Good Morning, India

Dears,

It’s today in India. The day in which Brain in a Jar: A Daughter’s Journey Through Her Father’s Memory becomes available to the people of the Subcontinent. This is a great day for my father and me: Our journey comes full circle.

When Beau was in India in 1965, did he ever imagine that a book about his life–and his newborn daughter’s life–would debut there 48 years later? Never.

I went to India in 1989, following in his footsteps. And I most certainly never fathomed that a book about us would appear there. Nor did I ever imagine that my beloved father would cease to exist.

But as of today, June 18, 2014,  people in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and the Maldives get to meet the Bercaws of the Philippines and Virginia. Both Beau and I are born again!

Indeed, as Gandhi once said, “What barrier is there that love cannot break?”

That’s the heart of Brain in a Jar: Even if gray matter shrinks from Alzheimer’s disease, love always expands.

Love,

Gal
