Dears,
What a delight to wake up this morning (Gosh, isn’t it a delight just to wake up?) and see that my story was smack dab in the center of the homepage of Maria Shriver’s website! Her tagline is “powered by inspiration” and that’s exactly what I’ve needed lately: to be re-empowered, actually, after a few months of restlessness and doubt about my place and my purpose.
I’ve been doubly inspired to live my best life (and not live in fear of AD) since watching Diana Nyad complete her lifelong dream, at age 64, of swimming from Cuba to Key West last weekend. Her accomplishment has inspired me to get back on the (sea)horse and keep sharing what I’ve learned from Alzheimer’s disease and my one-of-a-kind father.
Both Diana Nyad and Alzheimer’s Disease ask the same question of us, which actually is a line from a Mary Oliver’s poem: Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?
I’m going to love, write and swim the heck out of it. Care to join me?
Love,
Nancy
I do not really know what to do with my life or your life but I certainly am having a “time” living it with you!
