Dear Brain in a Jar,

You, the contents of my head, which contain memories of my father’s head, are among the words making the rounds at the world’s largest book fair in Frankfurt.

Book of mine, I urge you to stand up for yourself. Showcase my father’s brilliant, mysterious and adventurous mind for all to see. Tell the story of the only two Bercaw Filipinos in the history of he world. One a mermaid; one a neurologist. But two so like, they don’t have to speak to understand each other.

My father raised to me to tell you, book of mine. So rise up amongst the oceans of prose, and rescue us from the Sea of Lonely that is Alzheimer’s Disease. Every time someone reads you, Brain in a Jar, my father’s memory is preserved a little bit longer.
